Volunteering with Planned Parenthood
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Planned Parenthood in Oregon and SW Washington! Volunteers are an important part of Planned Parenthood. Their support makes it possible for us to meet the growing need for health services in our community. In 2013, more than 300 volunteers contributed more than 7,280 volunteer hours, supporting our health centers, special events, fundraising efforts, advocacy and community outreach, and education programs.
There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer. Below is a brief description of the various types of opportunities we have to offer. Please note that not all positions are available at all times. Thanks again for your wish to give back to Planned Parenthood!
Common Volunteer Opportunities:
Assist with a variety of projects at the Regional Service Center in NE Portland to support our administrative departments including Development, Medical Billing, Education and Marketing. Volunteer shifts are mostly clerical and are available during standard office hours. Actual schedules can usually be made flexible to your needs.
One night each month, PPCW's great group of volunteers meet at our NE Portland location to complete office projects for our health centers and admin departments. This is a fun way for volunteers of all ages to socialize, enjoy a bite to eat, get to know PPCW better, and make an impact for our community!
Our health centers provide affordable, confidential, high-quality sexual and reproductive health care services to more than 55,000 patients each year. We couldn't do this without the support of our amazing volunteers! Please note that any volunteer positions with patient contact require significant pre-screening, training and a time commitment.
Legislative Action Volunteer
Join a group of leading activists within targeted legislative districts in Oregon and SW Washington that work to build an aggressive grassroots movement focused on women's reproductive health care issues, comprehensive sexuality education, and access to abortion. Legislative Action Volunteers meet monthly in the evenings and also write letters to the editor, conduct community outreach and canvassing, make phone calls, train citizen lobbyists and participate in a variety of visibility events.
Fundraising and Special Events
You can volunteer at a number of special events throughout the Portland Metro area and in Central Oregon by providing support through guest registration, selling merchandise, assisting with silent auctions, and various other event support. On occasion, volunteers must be at least 21 years of age due to event venue.
