Education Programs

The Education & Community Outreach Department of Planned Parenthood of Pasadena provides wide-ranging education programs throughout our entire service area. Leading experts on human sexuality have helped us to develop a curriculum that is comprehensive, medically accurate, and age-appropriate.

Community Outreach

The mission of Community Outreach is to increase awareness of PPP’s ever-evolving programs and clinical services.

We organize age-appropriate comprehensive workshops and training on human sexuality geared for community institutions, organizations and clubs. We like to bring our tailored education programs to you. Our team of trained educators will visit your class, group, or organization and we can customize a presentation for your group:

¨      Adult groups

¨      After-school programs

¨      Faith-based organizations

¨      Juvenile/adult detention/probation centers

¨      Rehabilitation units and shelters

¨      Social service / health agencies

¨      Schools – Elementary, middle schools, high schools, colleges

¨      Youth groups

We’re flexible and adaptable to what suits you best. Topics may include prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases/infections, birth control options, and communication/negotiation skills. We take a reality-based, non-judgmental approach to sexuality and life skills education. We stress responsible, big-picture decision making.

Teen Education

We specialize in working with teens and young adults. We work with them on a face-to-face basis, engaging in open and honest dialogue. We openly demystify the common myths and perceptions that young people pick up from friends or from the media.  We convey:

¨      Skills to cope with peer group pressures and youth culture

¨      support on self-esteem issues

¨      assertive communication skills

¨      factual information about sexually transmitted diseases/infections including HIV, and contraception

¨      the importance of gaining fine parenting skills
