The reason I'm pro choice is because I believe that no one else has the right to tell a woman what she can or will do when faced with an unintended pregnancy. I believe if you give positive information to a woman and educate her on all of the options available, she will make the best decision for herself and her pregnancy. Women need to have the ability to control their own reproductive health and society needs to trust women enough to be able to make decisions that will result in women leading the healthiest life possible.
As Councilwoman for Ward 6 within the unique City of Riverside, I support organizations that provide services to our diverse populations to help women and their families live happy and healthy lives. The City of Riverside is home to over 300,000 people and is ranked as the 12th largest city in California. As a Councilwoman representing thousands of residents, I work in my community to make certain that our wonderful city works to ensure that our culturally diverse populations have access to the resources they need to keep themselves and their families healthy. By supporting institutions that provide access to reproductive health care and education, we are allowing each individual to make decisions that will provide for the highest quality of life.
I am the mother of two wonderful adopted daughters and I am grateful to the women who chose to put them up for adoption as babies. Now grown, one of my daughters has sought out her birthmother and they have developed a fine relationship together. She keeps me apprised of what’s going on in their life as they live out of state now and I am grateful they found each other. My other daughter chooses not to find her birthmother and I support her in that decision. If we don't color choice in recrimination and heap guilt on women for the choices they make, women will make the best decision for their lives. As I have seen with my two daughters, similar circumstances does not mean similar choices and both of my daughter have made choices that best suit their individual lives.
