Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW) celebrates its Golden Anniversary in 2013. Throughout the year, we’ll relive memorable moments, initiatives, and events that shaped our affiliate and celebrate the services we provide for women and families throughout the region.
We’re also embarking on a community outreach and education campaign to celebrate our accomplishments and share the direction of our future. Stay tuned for more information!
Did You Know?
In 1963, a San Diego clergyman, visiting a parishioner in a maternity ward, was asked for advice in securing help in family planning. When he looked for an agency to which he might refer her, he discovered there was none. Because of this experience, the Reverend Arthur G. Elcombe began to recruit a group who soon established Planned Parenthood of San Diego (now Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest).
From a one-room building offering only educational and referral services, PPPSW has grown into one of the major affiliates in the country. We provide a wide range of reproductive health services in health centers throughout San Diego, Riverside and Imperial Counties.
