  • $2,500 Protects five girls from cervical cancer via the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine series.
  • $1,000 Pays for 26 health center visits.
  • $500 Provides emergency contraception for 14 women.
  • $150 Provides one lifesaving cervical cancer screening.
  • $50 Pays for HIV testing and counseling for a patient.

Ellen and David Dolgen

Ellen Dolgen is an outspoken women’s health and wellness advocate, menopause awareness expert, blogger, author, and public speaker. She is the author of Shmirshky: the pursuit of hormone happiness. Ellen’s weekly blog, Menopause MondaysTM, is an expansive platform from which she broadens her discussion of menopause, women’s health, and life as a menopausal woman. Her motto is: Suffering in silence is OUT! Reaching out is IN!

Ellen has appeared on the TODAY Show, The Katie Show, NBC Nightly News, the Rachael Ray Show, The Doctors, Oprah Radio, Playboy Radio, NPR’s Tell Me More, Doctor Radio, and dozens of regional and national media outlets. In addition to Ellen’s ever-growing social media presence, has fast become “the place” on the web for informative and entertaining women’s menopause and wellness engagement. Ellen is #1 on Dr. Oz Top 10 Social HealthMakers on Menopause. In 2012 and 2013™ was named first on the list of the “Best Menopause Blogs” by Healthline. Ellen is also a regular contributor to The Huffington Post’s Huff/Post50, which targets 116 million Americans over the age of 50.  Her weekly newsletter is syndicated to over a dozen leading women’s health blogs.

She serves on the Community Advisory Board of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and has chaired and served on various boards and committees for Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, San Diego Hospice, Brandeis University, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, NARAL, the Phoenix Heart Ball, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Weizmann Institute of Science, Angel Charity for Children, Brewster Auxiliary, and Handmaker Home for the Aging. Ellen’s lifelong commitment to philanthropy through board representation, fundraising, and event organization continues with her founding of Menopause Mondays, which assists in promoting women’s health and wellbeing around the world.

She is the founder and president of Menopause Mondays and is a Principal of Dolgen Ventures along with her husband, David.

A longtime supporter and advocate for reproductive rights and women’s health, David P. Dolgen is proud to chair Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest’s 51st Anniversary Dinner along with his wife, Ellen.

Mr. Dolgen has been active in the commercial real estate business since 1981. Along with Ellen, he is a founder and principal of Dolgen Ventures, a private equity investment firm, focusing on real estate investments throughout the country. Prior to forming Dolgen Ventures, Mr. Dolgen held positions as Chief Executive Officer of SVP Investments, President of Forest City Southwest, and Senior Vice President of American Savings and Loan. Additionally, Mr. Dolgen was a founder and former member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Arizona, former Chairman of the Tucson Arizona Mayor’s Task Force for Economic Development and Chairman Elect of the Greater Tucson Economic Council.

Mr. Dolgen has served on, chaired, and participated with numerous community, business and government boards in Arizona and California including: the Pima County and the City of Tucson Bond Committees, the Angel Charity for Children, the University Of Arizona Office Of Cultural Affairs, and the San Diego Advisory Board of U.S. Bank. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the La Jolla Playhouse, on which he continues to serve. In both 2008 and 2012 Mr. Dolgen served on the National Finance Committee for the election of President Obama.

Most recently Mr. Dolgen founded Housing Impact Managers, LLC. He couples the traditional goals of private equity investment with the social mission of providing opportunities for qualified working families to secure affordable and sustainable solutions to their housing needs, thereby encouraging both stabilized family and neighborhood environments. This, he calls “doing well by doing good.”
