Volunteer & Intern
Volunteers and interns are very important to Planned Parenthood of New York City. Volunteers have been central to PPNYC's work since Margaret Sanger opened the nation's first birth control clinic in Brooklyn in 1916. In fact, until 1953 nearly all of PPNYC's medical, educational, administrative, and advocacy staff were unpaid volunteers!
Today, by assisting in our Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan health centers and our executive office in Manhattan, volunteers and interns make it possible for us to fulfill our threefold mission of clinical services, education, and advocacy.
There are several different ways you can volunteer at PPNYC, such as:
- Monthly Volunteer Night
- Have a Day to Give Here and There?
- Activists
Find out about these opportunities in the "Get Involved Locally" section of this website.
You can also check out descriptions of our current openings for ongoing volunteer and internship positions.
