Colposcopy & Cryotherapy

If your Pap test (which is a test for cancerous cells on the cervix) is not normal, a special test called colposcopy may be recommended. This is a test that looks at your cervix with a microscope. During the test, biopsies (samples) may be taken so your tissue can be examined further at a laboratory. The results are reviewed by a clinician and you may be asked to return to the health center for a treatment of your cervix called cryotherapy. This is a method that “freezes” the abnormal cells.
