Planned Parenthood of New York City Unveils Emergency Contraception Campaign
New York (August 6, 2008) - Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) is proud to announce the launch of our bilingual Emergency Contraception campaign in the South Bronx. Also known as "the morning after pill" or "Plan B," Emergency Contraception is a safe, effective method of back-up birth control. It can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex (the sooner, the better) to help prevent unintended pregnancy. Unfortunately, many women remain unaware of this important method of birth control and PPNYC is committed to increasing awareness and access. The English and Spanish campaign - which includes bus shelters, billboards and restroom displays, is on display now through May 7 at locations including: · East Fordham Rd & Grand Concourse · 167 St between River Av & Jerome Av · Grand Concourse between E Clarke & E 169 St · Grand Concourse between E 166 st & E 165 St · Allerton A between White Plains & Glinville · Bainbridge Av between 210 St & 209 St · Petropolis Bar Restaurant · Montezuma Restaurant · Montezuma Mexican Bar · La Onda Cafe · La Cabana Salvadorena · El Buen Ambiente Emergency Contraception is available at PPNYC's health center in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the South Bronx and behind the drugstore pharmacy counter without a prescription for women 18 and older. Women younger than 18 still require a prescription.
