To the Editor:

Re "In Reversal of Course, Justices, 5-4, Back Ban on Abortion Method" (front page, April 19): The Supreme Court decision on Wednesday is a stunning assault on women's health and rights.

Callously disregarding 30 years of precedent -- as well as the core tenets of Roe v. Wade -- the Supreme Court decided to play doctor, and women's health now lies in the balance.

Americans should be outraged that the Supreme Court turned women's health concerns over to politicians, as they inserted themselves into our most private medical decisions.
