Abortion

Unwanted pregnancies happen; even the best birth control methods can fail. Although it is important to have an abortion early in the pregnancy, a woman shouldn't rush into it. It is just as important that she discuss her decision with her partner, parent, doctor, and/or health care provider. We believe women must have the right to obtain medically safe, legal abortions under dignified conditions and at a reasonable cost.

By state law, women under 18 years of age must get a parent’s consent or get a judicial bypass (permission to get an abortion without parental involvement) from the court in the county where they live, or an adjacent (bordering) county. Information on judicial bypass is available from Juvenile Court (sometimes called Domestic Relations or Family Court.)
