Self-Esteem Program

Standard
Participants will gain an understanding of what self-esteem is and the importance it plays in our daily lives.

Rationale
All of us want to be loved, valued, and respected. In order to accomplish this, individuals must first learn to love, value, and respect themselves. Self-esteem is created and shaped by the world around us. However, only the individual can determine how he/she feels about him/herself. As individuals learn how to enhance their self-esteem and the self-esteem of others, their development, behavior, and relationships will be strengthened.

Performance Indicators
As a result of Self-Esteem Education, participants will:

  • Identify the positive and negative qualities they possess
  • Assess their individual difficulty in revealing positive qualities
  • Define self-esteem
  • Discuss the differences between high self-esteem and low self-esteem
  • Identify how self-esteem is influenced
  • Understand that building self-esteem is a life-long process
  • Identify ways to enhance personal self-esteem and the self-esteem of others
  • Realize the benefits of setting and achieving goals to increase self-esteem
