Puberty Education Program
Standard
Participants will understand that puberty is a natural transition from childhood to adulthood that involves both physical and emotional change.
Rationale
Puberty can be very confusing and a difficult part of growing up. When adolescents understand human growth and development they feel more comfortable with accepting the changes of puberty. Honest communication can take the mystery out of the human life cycle and allow adolescents to develop into sexually healthy adults.
Performance Indicators
As a result of Puberty Education, participants will:
- Recognize why puberty occurs
- Identify the physical changes of puberty
- Identify the emotional changes of puberty
- Understand there is a degree of variance in developmental growth and value what is unique within themselves
- Understand that puberty is a natural and normal part of growing up
