Men's Reproductive Health Program

Standard
Participants will gain an understanding of the male reproductive system and be able to identify practices to keep their bodies healthy.

Rationale
Testicular cancer is the most common type of cancer in men ages 15-34. Yet, because it accounts for only about 1 percent of all cancers in men, many people have never heard of this type of cancer. As men age, other exams may be important in the early detection of other reproductive cancers and conditions.

Performance Indicators
As a result of Men's Reproductive Health, participants will:

  • Identify the external and internal parts of the male reproductive system and describe their function
  • Identify signs and symptoms of infection or other conditions of the male reproductive system
  • Identify those factors that increase the risk of certain reproductive system diseases
  • Provide a return demonstration of testicular self-examination techniques
  • Identify testing procedures and the recommended time frame for other exams (e.g. prostate exam)
