Healthy Relationships Program

Standard
Participants will recognize the differences between a healthy and unhealthy relationship.

Rationale
Of the many relationships we may become involved in, romantic relationships seem to be the greatest focus of our energies. Individuals are often unaware of the essential qualities of an "ideal mate" and have difficulty distinguishing between a healthy and unhealthy relationship. Education that stresses our individual right to healthy and positive relationships will generate thoughtful discussion about the dangers of staying in an unhealthy relationship.

Performance Indiators
As a result of Healthy Relationship Education, participants will:

  • Examine the different types of relationships
  • Discuss why romantic relationships are so important throughout the lifecycle
  • Identify qualities of an ideal mate
  • Recognize the qualities that are important to maintain healthy relationships
  • Recognize warning signs that a relationship may be unhealthy
  • Discuss how relationships affect various aspects of our lives
  • Identify steps to take if involved in unhealthy relationships
