Girlfriends Club is Planned Parenthood of Northeast, Mid-Penn & Bucks County's after-school program for girls ages 10-16 living in the Venice-Ashby Neighborhood of Bristol. Girlfriends Club uses age-appropriate sexuality education curricula that not only imparts knowledge, but also helps young women develop a positive racial identity and examine their attitudes and values as they relate to issues of human sexuality.
The program educates young women and girls on a variety of topics including abstinence, contraception, STI/HIV prevention, building self-esteem, healthy relationships, positive responses to peer pressure, and life skills for empowerment and self-determination. The program meets weekly with activities that include recreation, community involvement, field trips and guest speakers.
