Volunteering with Planned Parenthood



Planned Parenthood of North Central Florida has many opportunities for members of the community to get involved in our critical work.


We have volunteer opportunities in Education, Public Affairs and Advocacy and Clinical Services. Please see below for program description and volunteer details. 


Clinic:
Family planning, medical services, and other well women gynecological services are provided in Gainesville and Tallahassee. This includes annual exams, colposcopy, sexual transmitted infections, pregnancy testing, mid-life care and contraceptive consultation and sales.

Volunteer opportunities include:
# Filing and pulling charts
# Making packets for patients
# Making reminder phone calls
# Answering phones
# Stickering pills
# Assisting FPA staff with organizational tasks

Education Department:
The education department is committed to educating and empowering individuals and communities to make responsible choices regarding their sexuality and sexual health.

Volunteer opportunities include:
# Researching and producing educational materials
# Preparing condoms for distribution
# Distributing condoms to, “Condom Drop Box” locations
# Answering phones
# Assisting with outreach events

Public Affairs Volunteer:
Volunteers who work in the Public Affairs Department assist with advocacy activities pertaining to reproductive health and choice issues. Volunteers will promote public awareness of reproductive health issues at the local, state and national level within the guidelines of the Planned Parenthood mission.

Volunteer opportunities include:
Earned Media Volunteer: Create and submit letters to th editor on a verity of reproductive health issues. Create media packets for press conferences and events.
Foundation Research Volunteer: Conduct research on foundations, endowments and trusts that support the work of Planned Parenthood.
Advocacy Team Volunteer: Supports the Public Affairs Department in the education of our constituents and elected officials around reproductive health care and rights through the promotion and development of clinic based advocacy programs. Updates public affairs bulletin boards in both health centers. Grass roots activities such as phone banking, burma shaves, letter writing and canvassing.
