If youíre not sure how you can afford to pay for care, or if you already have insurance and donít know if we accept it, you should still come to PPNC. Our staff will talk with you to figure out how you can get the health services you need. As a teenager, you may also be eligible for FREE birth control and exams. You do not need to get your parentsí permission or submit their income when applying for most public insurance or seeking financial assistance for family planning and reproductive health care.
Confidentiality means privacy. According to New York State law, if you are under the age of 18 and you understand the risks and benefits of birth control, you do not need your parents' permission to receive reproductive health care. All of our services are confidential, which means that our staff will not tell your parents or guardians anything about the services you receive at PPNC.
Even though you donít have to ask your parents, itís a good idea to talk with them or another adult you trust about the medical care you need. We want you to be safe! If you have any questions about confidentiality, please ask us when you make your appointment.
