HPV Vaccine

Protect Your Sexual Health For A Lifetime

The HPV vaccine is now available at all three of Planned Parenthood of Nassau County's health centers. And now, if you are uninsured and between the ages 0f 19 and 26, you can get the vaccine for FREE!

What is HPV?

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a virus that is passed by skin-to-sin contact. Often, persons who are infected with the virus have no symptoms. Even without symptoms, the virus can be passed from one person to another. Approximately 20 million people in the United States are infected with HPV. There are more than 100 types of HPV. Some types cause genital warts, and some types cause cervical cancer.

What is the HPV Vaccine?

Gardasil is a vaccine that will provide protection against the diseases caused by HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18. HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for 70% of all cervical cancers, and HPV types 6 and 11 are responsible for 90% of genital warts.

The vaccine is FDA approved for women ages nine to 26. Ideally, the vaccine should be administered before the onset of sexual activity, but young women who are sexually active should still be vaccinated.

To make an appointment, or to see if you qualify for a free vaccine, please call (516) 750-2500.
