Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women, and second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women. That’s the bad news. The good news is – most breast cancer is curable. A simple annual mammogram saves lives. And in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, many women can get a mammogram free.  Planned Parenthood of Nassau County is hosting the Nassau University Medical Center mammography van, offering free mammograms for all Nassau residents 40 or over who are uninsured, have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months, and are asymptomatic. Friday, Oct. 12 in Hempstead and Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Glen Cove. Call  516- 750-2500 for an appointment or information.
