Payment and Insurance Information

I have private insurance/am enrolled in a managed care (HMO) plan. Will my insurance pay for services at PPMHV?

PPMHV accepts most private insurance and participates in many managed care health plans. Call 1 (800) 230-PLAN to find out if we are in your health plan and what services are included in your coverage.

Do I need to get a referral from my primary care provider or health plan before coming to PPMHV?

No. New York State law says you have Direct Access to family planning and reproductive health services. As long as PPMHV is in your health plan, you can come to PPMHV directly for covered family planning and GYN services without getting a referral.
You can use Direct Access twice a year. All necessary follow-up appointments for those two visits are also allowed.

I have Medicaid. Will it pay for services at PPMHV?

Yes. PPMHV accepts Medicaid for all of our services. Bring your Medicaid card to the visit. Call 1 (800) 230-PLAN for an appointment.

I am enrolled in a Medicaid health plan. Can I come to PPMHV?

Yes. New York State law says you have Free Access to the family planning and GYN services you need. That means you can always come to PPMHV — it doesn't matter if PPMHV is in your Medicaid health plan or not. You don't need a referral from your regular doctor.

If PPMHV is not in your health plan or if your health plan does not cover the services you need, you can use your Medicaid card. Bring your health plan card and your Medicaid card to the visit. You will not be turned away.

I don't have any health insurance. Will PPMHV still see me?

Yes. If you do not have health insurance, you can still come to PPMHV. PPMHV has trained staff at each of our health centers.  They can help you find out if you can get Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or the Medicaid Family Planning Benefit Program. If you do not qualify for these health insurance programs, our centers may still be able to offer you a lower fee, depending on your income and the services that you need. Please call 1 (800) 230-PLAN to make an appointment.

The Medicaid Family Planning Benefit Program is a health insurance program that provides family planning and GYN benefits to men and women aged 10 - 64.  If you qualify, you will not have to pay when you visit PPMHV and other providers.  You will not have to pay here or at the pharmacy for your birth control.  Learn more about the Medicaid Family Planning Benefit Program.
