Princeton, NJ: Activists, staff, donors, and volunteers will gather from noon to 1PM on Saturday, January 21st at Monument Park in Princeton to commemorate the 39th anniversary of Roe v Wade, the US Supreme Court decision which decriminalized abortion care.
“Planned Parenthood applauds the Roe decision because – while we work to prevent unintended pregnancies – we also recognize abortion care as a safe, legal procedure that must remain available to women so that they can make their own health-care decisions without government interference,” said Jennifer Miller, Vice President of Community Services.
Almost 40 years after the Roe decision, polling consistently shows that a majority of Americans support Roe and believe that each woman should make her own decisions about reproductive health and pregnancy. Yet, in 2011, anti-women’s health politicians across the country did just about everything in their power to undermine Roe and gut access to safe and legal abortion care along with access to family planning and Planned Parenthood health centers.
“This is the 7th anniversary of our annual honk and wave visibility event,” said Miller. “We look forward to affirming the importance of the full range of reproductive health care with our supporters and the Princeton community.”
