Thank you for your interest in getting involved with Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi. If you would like to volunteer or intern with PPTNM, please click here to complete our volunteer sign-up form. Once we receive your application, someone from our team will contact you to discuss volunteer opportunities in your region that best match your skills and availability with our needs.

Below are some of our ongoing volunteer opportunities:

  • Advocacy Volunteers: We must take action to build a powerful movement for reproductive freedom. PPTNM offers a number of advocacy volunteer opportunities, which you can read more about here, including:

    • Sharing your Planned Parenthood or reproductive health care story

    • Joining a local Action Council or Generation Action campus chapter

    • Building power in Latinx communities with the Raiz Program

  • Patient Greeters/Escorts: Patient Greeters/Escorts welcome patients, their companions, and other visitors into and out of Planned Parenthood health centers. Greeters/Escorts serve as a calm presence during protester activity, acting as a barrier between patients and protestors. Weekday & daytime availability required.

  • Health Center Advocates: The Health Center Advocacy Program (HCAP) is a vital component of Planned Parenthood’s commitment to building a patient-centered movement. Using healthy neighborhood canvassing, health center outreach, and story collection, volunteers meet health center visitors and community members where they are and empower them to make change.

  • Free Condoms Tennessee Volunteers (Memphis only): Free Condoms Tennessee volunteers pack and prepare safer sex supplies for distribution to sites across Memphis.

  • Education & Promotoras Volunteers: Education Department and Promotoras Program volunteers may help with preparation of education and outreach materials, updating lesson plans, online research for grant-writing and program development. Volunteers should not expect to teach, but rather assist on all aspects necessary to create a successful education session. The Promotoras Program is currently only available in Memphis and volunteers must be fluent in Spanish.

  • Outreach Volunteers: Outreach volunteers are the public face of Planned Parenthood volunteers! These volunteers represent Planned Parenthood at community events such as health fairs, neighborhood festivals, and fundraisers, and they trained to discuss our health care services, education, and advocacy work with community members.

  • Abortion Doula Program (Memphis only): Abortion Doulas engage with patients before, during, and after their abortion procedure to provide emotional care and comfort. Doulas ensure patients’ questions and concerns are addressed prior to the procedure and comfort throughout and after the procedure. This program is currently only available in Memphis via the Memphis Full Spectrum Doula Collective. Contact MFSDC for more information at [email protected]

  • Memphis Feminist Book Club: Learn, share, and grow together with feminists in the Memphis-area! Request to join the Memphis Feminist Book Club on Facebook to see upcoming events, book giveaways, reading suggestions, and other Feminist Book Club conversations.
