Q: Will there be protesters outside Planned Parenthood when I arrive?
A: Sometimes protesters are present on the sidewalk, but not always.
Q: Why are there protesters outside Planned Parenthood?
A: The protesters believe Planned Parenthood's mission to provide women and teens with affordable health care and the full range of reproductive health care options is wrong.
Q: What do the protesters do?
A: They may carry signs, approach to offer you pamphlets and/or try to talk to you. They must stay on the sidewalk and are not allowed to come into the parking lot. By federal law, they are not allowed to touch you or block your way into the clinic or driveway. If they do try to touch or block you, or approach you in the parking lot, please go to the security desk in the front entry and tell the security guard on duty. There is always a security guard on duty when the health center is open
Q: Do I have to talk to them?
A: No. The protesters are not associated with Planned Parenthood. You do not have to talk to them or take their literature. The safest strategy is to ignore them.
Q: How can I best avoid the protesters?
A: The best way to avoid them is to park your car in the parking lot directly behind our building. Come down the stairs and along the walkway closest to the right side of the building. Avoid parking across the street or walking on the sidewalk outside of the fence.
Q: Can you make the protesters leave?
A: As long as the protesters do not break the law, they have a right to protest. We monitor the protesters carefully and are in regular contact with law enforcement. Please notify security if you think a protester has acted inappropriately.
