National Women's Health Week 2009

Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region (PPGMR) is celebrating National Women's Health Week, May 11-16 2009, with a series of events and services. National Women's Health Week is a nationwide initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health, which empowers women to make their health a priority.

Planned Parenthood is offering free services and events to reinforce its mission to ensure broad public access to high-quality, affordable reproductive health care.

Monday, May 11 -- Free Emergency Contraception Day
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Planned Parenthood Health Center, 1407 Union Ave., Suite 300
PPGMR will offer free emergency contraception (EC). EC lowers the risk of pregnancy when taken within 120 hours of unprotected intercourse. PPGMR encourages sexually active women to have EC available in case of emergency.

Tuesday, May 12-- Free Family Planning Day
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Planned Parenthood Health Center, 1407 Union Ave., Suite 300
In recognition of National Women's Check-Up Day, PPGMR will offer free family planning services, including annual exams and birth control. Space is limited. Please call today for an appointment: 725-1717

Thursday, May 14 -- "Peace of Mind" testing day
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Planned Parenthood Health Center, 1407 Union Ave., Suite 300
PPGMR is offering free sexually transmitted infection testing at its health center. Bring your partner and get tested together! Space is limited. Please call today for an appointment: 725-1717

All Week, May 11-16, 2009, Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region is offering:

  • Free HIV testing
  • Free "Women's Health Workshops" for groups such as churches, schools, community organizations and social clubs. We can tailor the information to the needs of the group! Please call 725-3033 by Monday, April 27th to set up a workshop during National Women's Health Week.
