Building Responsible Behavior Through Education

Everyone in our community feels the repercussions of ignorance and misinformation about sexual issues, from endless cycles of poverty to increased crime rates. Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region strives to replace this ignorance with straightforward facts so people can make responsible, informed decisions about sexual issues.

Our educators are available for presentations to elementary, middle and high schools, colleges, parents, churches and community groups in the Memphis area. Subjects include abstinence and sexual decision making, contraception, condom use and negotiation skills, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, puberty and hygiene, anatomy, breast cancer awareness and screening, reproductive health care and other subjects relating to reproductive health and sexuality.

Young people retain more information and are more likely to demonstrate learned skills when they listen to information over multiple days or sessions. Therefore, multi-session education programs are preferred when reaching out to youth. Sessions are interactive and include activities, games, discussions and plenty of time to ask questions. They typically run from 45 minutes to an hour.
