Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region partners and collaborates with many Memphis-area community service agencies, providing gynecological care, expertise on sexual health and education, HIV testing, and much more. Below are a few of PPGMR's partnering agencies.
Caritas Village - PPGMR provides free condoms at the Caritas Village Community Center.
Connect to Protect Memphis, an initiative led by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - PPGMR with other Memphis-area community service agencies, collaborates to reduce HIV/AIDS rates among adolescents and young adults in Memphis.
Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks Job Corps Center - PPGMR provides birth control counseling and sexual health education to all Job Corps students. Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that provides career training to young people ages 16 through 24.
LeMoyne-Owen College - PPGMR collaborates with professors and students to provide free condoms and educational events on campus.
Tennessee Community Service Agency, a Families First/Welfare to Work program - PPGMR provides clients with twice monthly education sessions about sexual health and birth control.
Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center - PPGMR partners with the Community HIV Network to provide free rapid HIV testing one evening per week at MGLCC. PPGMR also facilitates a "Queer as Youth" group which meets weekly at MGLCC, providing sexual health information and support to gay teens.
Memphis City Schools - PPGMR serves on the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC), providing education resources and expertise to MCS's School Health Program. PPGMR also chairs the "Healthy Relationships Day" committee for MCS's annual "Healthy Choices Week" program.
Mid-South Collaborative on Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention and Parenting - PPGMR is among many community organizations working to address the issue of unplanned teenage pregnancy in this collaborative group.
Mid-South Coalition on HIV/AIDS - PPGMR chairs a committee on this coalition which includes HIV-positive consumers, HIV/AIDS service providers and community volunteers helping to improve the quality of life for people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Peabody Residential Facility - This is a state-funded residential facility for juvenile offenders. PPGMR provides twice weekly sexual health education classes for residents, including information about birth control and HIV/STD prevention.
Stonewall Tigers - PPGMR provides free condoms and collaborates on educationl events with the Stonewall Tigers, the gay-straight student alliance on the University of Memphis campus.
Tennessee Department of Health - PPGMR employs a certified Master Trainer for the HIV Prevention Counseling and Testing Course who provides essential training and support for new HIV testers at agencies all over the Mid-South.
University of Memphis Student Health Services - PPGMR provides free HIV testing and prevention counseling each Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Center (UC), Room 203.
YWCA Immigrant Women's Services - PPGMR provides sexual health education to Latino mothers and teens.
