Seventh Annual Celebrate Our Right to Shoes

We have some sad news to report. On Thursday, April 26th, during the 7th Annual Celebrate Our Right to Shoes, you did not win the four (4) VIP tickets to a live taping of The Daily Show or the stay at Wintergreen Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Well, that is unless you are Amina Chaudhry or Jane Navarria!

The good news is that you raised over $140,000 for PPM! Thank you!

At the VIP reception, we were happy to hear from Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, thanking PPM for our work across the state and whose words of support and gratitude are always inspirational for all in attendance. Plus, we got to meet the next PPM President & CEO, Jenny Black, who was in town for a visit before she begins her position in June. Welcome to Maryland, Jenny!

During the main event, more than 350 of you were joined by Mary Tyler Doub whose mother, Betty Tyler, was memorialized by the award for her leadership in public affairs on our board from 1974-1986.  This year, the award was presented by Nancy Cox to Maryland Senator Delores G. Kelley and Maryland Delegate Peter A. Hammen, for their outstanding commitment to protecting women’s rights in Annapolis.

Meghan Marek & Melissa Jencks, our wonderful Auction Co-Chairs, led their A+ team to success in raising over $30,000 in the live & silent auctions. This was the first year that Celebrate Our Right to Shoes tried electronic bidding for our silent auction, so another thank you is in order for Matt & Greg from ClickBid for being on-site and lending a hand with technical support.

Guests scout out auction items

Celebrate Our Right to Shoes grows year after year, and it wouldn’t be possible without the commitments of these sponsors and Honorary Committee  members. Thank you!

Everyone who sipped a martini from the shoe-shaped ice luge, ate delicious food by Pazo, or coveted an auction item should tip their hats to the talented Event Co-Chairs Michelle Siri & Jennifer Foster; Sponsorship Co-Chairs Chrissy Miller & Ann Watson (who raised in an astonishing $50,000+); Honorary Committee Co-Chairs Beth Rosenwald & Sheila Sachs, Vice Chair Anne Hurley; and Ena Pierce, who chaired raffle ticket sales.

We'd also like to thank auctioneer, Jonathan Melnick, for his help in raising $9,600 during our live auction.

Ready to start the bidding!

The 7th Annual Celebrate Our Right to Shoes surely was one to remember, and we’re interested in what you have to say about it! Please complete our post-event survey so that we can make next year’s event even more extraordinary!
