The rates of births to teenagers have declined substantially in Santa Clara and San Benito counties over the last 10 years, as they have across the state and nation. While rates have declined across all racial and ethnic groups, Latinas continue to have notably higher birth rates. While teen birth rates have declined substantially in San Benito county, it remains one of the state's identified hot spots for teen pregnancy because its average is still higher than many other counties.
