Amazing! Informative! Motivating! These are just a few of the adjectives activists used to describe their experience as participants in Planned Parenthood Capitol Day on Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
Over 550 Planned Parenthood supporters, from throughout California, traveled to Sacramento to make a difference by meeting with elected officials to talk to them about how important reproductive health care issues are to them.

The day kicked off with a morning rally and education fair. The fair included booths on topics such as cancer prevention and parent-child communication, and fun activities such as sex education quizzes, and jump roping!
Legislative Visits:
Over 80 legislative visits occurred throughout the day, with teams of Planned Parenthood activists meeting with elected officials from their districts. During the visits activists shared their reasons for supporting two important bills that Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is sponsoring this session - AB 629 and AB 1541.
AB 629 (Brownley) - this bill, the Sexual Health Education Accountability Act, would promote healthy California communities by ensuring that local pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease prevention education programs are medically-accurate, unbiased, and effective. AB 1541 (Nava) - eliminating barriers to essential services, this bill would save California billions of dollars in future health care, social services, and education costs by streamlining paperwork and improving access to family planning services.
