Birth control

Birth Control: Pills, Condoms, Depo-Provera, etc.

Your Choices

Our staff will help you decide which method of birth control is best for you. We will be sure the method is healthy for you to use. You must be sure you will be able to use it correctly every time. You should also consider whether your chosen method will help protect you from AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

We will be happy to talk with you about barrier methods, such as the condom or diaphragm, which are used with spermicides.

Hormonal methods

  • Pill
  • Depo-Provera
  • IUD
  • Patch or the Ring

Other

  • Sterilization

At our health centers, you can get started a hormonal method without having a pelvic exam and Pap test first. We encourage you to be tested for infections and early signs of cancer, but if you don't have time or aren't ready yet, we'll provide you with the contraception you need now.

Please call your nearest PPMM health center for an appointment or to find out when drop-in hours are. Some methods of birth control must be started at certain times in your menstrual cycle to be effective, but we can always provide you with condoms to use right away!

Available at all health centers.
