We Support Your Choice

Choosing to end your pregnancy is a very private and personal decision. Planned Parenthood Mar Monte is here to support you in your choice.

The best known women's health care provider in the world, Planned Parenthood is the leader in family planning, birth control, abortion, and reproductive health. with many years of experience, our physicians and staff provide caring, confidential, and affordable abortion services

Our goal is to help you feel safe and supported.

Medication Abortion, sometimes known as non-surgical abortion, is offered to women who are eight weeks pregnant or less and who do not have health problems which would interfere with the medications.

The first step is a review of your medical history. In addition, an ultrasound is done to accurately determine the number of weeks you are pregnant.

Prior to the procedure, we will draw your blood to check for anemia and determine your Rh factor. You will also have either an abdominal or vaginal ultrasound performed.

At this point, we will explain the medications involved in the abortion procedure, how to use them, what you can expect to happen, and possible side effects. We will also provide you with pain medications.

You take the first medication in the clinic and use the second medications in the convenience of your own home.

After the abortion, you need to return to the clinic for a check up and a repeat ultrasound. This will assure you that the abortion is complete. We will then discuss birth control options if you choose.

Medication abortion works more than 95 percent of the time. It is important, however, that you are comfortable with a surgical procedure in case the non-surgical one fails. The medications used in a medication abortion cause serious birth defects if the pregnancy continues.

Our abortion sites offer first trimester abortions, surgical and non-surgical abortions. Some sites offer second trimester procedures. Contact the clinic nearest you for further information.
