Launched in 2000, this PPLA program reaches out to young men and women in one of L.A.’s teen pregnancy "hot spots" – East Los Angeles. Through its community presentations and outreach events, Círculo de Salud promotes adolescent health and sexual responsibility, and trains Peer Educators to serve as role models for other teens. Peer Educators share valuable health information with friends, neighbors and classmates, and encourage check-ups at Planned Parenthood’s health center in Boyle Heights.

Not only are Peer Educators rigorously trained, they are able to relate to the youth of this community through their own experiences. Círculo de Salud Peer Educators develop individual life plans and are trained and work as health educators and clinic assistants, valuable assets that improve future educational and employment opportunities for East L.A. youth.

Wise Guys

Wise Guys is one of the most successful programs used nationally to help young adults – particularly young men – make better, wiser decisions about sexuality. The curriculum, intended for high schoolers and young adults, has made its L.A. debut through Círculo de Salud.
