Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing and Treatment
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs or STDs--sexually transmitted diseases) are infections that are passed from one person to another through sex or other close bodily contact. STIs can cause long-term, irreversible fertility problems, cancer, and other problems.
Symptoms for STIs include:
- Abnormal discharge around the penis or vagina
- Painful urination
- Sores, bumps, or blisters in the genital or anal area
- Pain during sexual intercourse
- Rash
Many people with STIs do not show any symptoms at all. Anyone who has had unprotected sex should get tested.
