Emergency Contraception (EC)

Emergency Contraception (EC) is a high dose of hormones that works like birth control pills to prevent pregnancy for up to 120 hours (five days) after unprotected intercourse.  EC works best the sooner it is taken.

EC is not effective if a woman is pregnant, and will not affect an existing pregnancy.  EC should not be used as a substitute for long-term contraception.  EC does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

For more information about EC, please click here.

Planned Parenthood of Kentucky offers Emergency Contraception to women of all ages.  No appointment is needed to receive EC.  For payment information, please click here
