Planned Parenthood Aids Women in Kenya Conflict
The PPFA Africa Regional Office in Nairobi was closed for more than two weeks after explosive post-election violence in Kenya broke out. Our Kenyan staff and partners scrambled to find family members and refuge during the violence, and many were forced to relocate for their safety. To date, more than 1,000 Kenyans have been killed and 300,000 more displaced many of them women and children at their most vulnerable, simply searching for security in the overwhelming chaos.

Peace is on the horizon in Kenya, but the impact of the past few months of violence on women and girls is deep and long-lasting. Immediate reproductive health needs include sanitary supplies for women in refugee camps and the management of out-of-control sexual violence.

In the long term, women in Kenya will need assistance resettling into their homes and feeling safe again, and dealing with issues like unintended pregnancy and the lasting trauma of rape and violence.
Right now today we can be there for them. In Kenya and in more than 15 other countries, the PPFA International Program partners with local organizations to provide critical reproductive health care. You can help make the difference in the lives of the hundreds of people who rely on us.
