National Condom Week 2008

Valentine’s Day marks the first day of National Condom Week.  Condoms used consistently and correctly provide the best protection against sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy for sexually active individuals.

While myths about condoms abound, the truth is clear:  Latex condoms have been scientifically proven to

  • Reduce the risk of pregnancy.  Condoms are an effective, inexpensive over-the-counter form of birth control.
  • Reduce the risk of HIV transmission.  The condom is a highly effective barrier against HIV infection.
  • Reduce the risk of other sexually transmitted infections.  Condoms significantly reduce the risk of getting or passing many other sexually transmitted infections.

Celebrate National Condom Week by making safer sex a priority every time you have sex.  Learn more about the effectiveness of condoms and check out the movie below to learn about the proper use of condoms:

New this year, you have stylish options for protecting yourself and your partner.  PROPER ATTIRE condoms are the fashionable lifestyle statement for National Condom Week. PROPER ATTIRE™ condoms come three in a pack and will be sold at boutique shops and hotels. They will also be available at Planned Parenthood health centers and will soon be sold online.
