Teen Action Board

Peer Education & Advocacy

Planned Parenthood's TAB (Teen Action Board) is comprised of local high school students who are passionate about peer education and advocacy concerning teen reproductive health and decision-making.

TAB is made up of members with a variety of backgrounds, beliefs and viewpoints. Each member contributes in his or her own way. PPINW encourages diversity among TAB members and no one is expected to come into the group with vast amounts of knowledge. Rather, we hope everyone who is selected, comes ready to learn in an atmosphere that is fun, supportive and engaging.

As a TAB member you will:

  • Help reduce ignorance, promote acceptance, and the value of communication between teens and the important people in their lives.
  • Learn how to make healthy and responsible choices for yourself and how to help your peers make healthy decisions as well.
  • Develop skills to be advocates for medically-accurate, age-appropriate sexuality education for all youth and become agents for positive social change.

TAB members work and decide on their projects and activities together. Some recent projects and activities have included:

  • Participating in World AIDS Day and Gay Pride Day Events
  • Attending the Annual Teen Lobby Day in Olympia, WA and helping pass the 2007 Healthy Youth Act in Washington State!
  • Presenting to other teens at schools, centers, and youth summits
  • Organizing a SEXplanations! event
  • Writing letters to the editor in local newspapers
  • Having tons and tons of fun!!!
