Contacting your legislators (state) or members of congress (national) is a great way to have your voice heard by speaking out about issues that matter to you.
Letters & Phone-Calls to Officials
- Do address Senators and Representatives as "Senator Smith" or "Representative "Jones".
- Do identify yourself as a constituent, taxpayer, voter, doctor, student, mother, teacher, etc.
- Do include your full name, address, and phone number when you call or write.
- Do include the bill number or name if you are writing about one.
- Do use personal details or stories if possible.
- Do call PPINW for help if you need it. We have fact sheets, statistics, and staff who will assist you or proofread.
- Do call the legislator to follow up on the letter if you wrote one.
