SERVICES PROVIDED AT PPINW HEALTH CENTERS ARE COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL. However, there are some instances in which we are required to report information. These include:
- Positive Sexually Transmitted Infection Test Results — Cases of sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea, herpes, HIV and clamydia) are reported to the Washington State Department of Health (DOH). DOH maintains the confidentiality of these reports.
- Child Abuse and Neglect — PPINW service providers are mandatory reporters of child abuse. All suspected cases of child abuse are reported to Washington State Child Protective Services.
ABOUT YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS
- No one can have access to your medical information without your written consent. Consent needs to be obtained for every instance where medical information is sent to another person, whether the person is another doctor, or anyone else.
- You can get your own medical records whenever you need them. Just make a request at the health center where your records are kept, they will have you sign a "request for release" for the records. Copies of your records will then be provided to you.
