Illinois Healthy Women Program
What is Illinois Healthy Women? The Illinois Healthy Women program helps women get the birth control services they want and need. The program is voluntary and services are confidential and free.
Covered Services: With this program, the following family planning and related reproductive health services are covered:
- Physical exam and health history
- Patient education and counseling
- Birth control
Services covered during a family planning visit:
- Lab tests necessary for family planning and birth control
- Pap tests
- Testing and medicine for sexually transmitted infections found during the family planning exam, including HIV testing (but not treatment)
- Mammograms ordered by a clinician
- Multivitamins and folic acid
What is the Pink Card? The Pink card shows coverage for family planning (birth control) under Illinois Healthy Women. Women will need to show the Pink card to their healthcare provider.

Eligibility
- Woman at least 19 years old and no older than 44
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a Social Security Number
- Illinois resident
- Family income up to 200% of the federal poverty level
- No health insurance coverage for birth control
- Currently not pregnant
How do women sign up?
You can sign up at any Chicago Area Planned Parenthood health center.
Just bring a copy of your social security card, as well as the required identification to prove you are an Illinois resident (i.e. U.S. passport with Illinois address or Illinois birth certificate plus driver’s license) and ask about the Pink card. A Planned Parenthood staff person will help you to fill out the application and mail it in for you.
