Renee Ferguson is an award-winning investigative journalist whose career has spanned four decades. Ferguson is known locally and nationally for her pursuit of social justice journalism and her reporting on issues of civil rights, human rights, wrongful convictions, environmental racism, worker’s rights and women’s equality. For her work, Ferguson has received the highest awards given to broadcast journalists in America, including seven Emmy Awards.

The families are thrilled that Planned Parenthood works with Illinois’ other organizations critical to the protection of a woman’s right to choose. Planned Parenthood provides life-saving services every day and works with Personal PAC to create the legislative environment that ensures our elected officials will keep choice legal, safe and affordable. The ACLU of Illinois provides the legal expertise all too often necessary.

Katie Rich is being honored as a young activist who is making a difference for reproductive health by using innovation and creativity to support Planned Parenthood. Rich traveled with The Second City Touring Company for five years before she was promoted to The Second City Main Stage where she wrote and orchestrated three shows, including 2012’s 100th review in which she performed an auction-themed scene that raised over $32,000 for Planned Parenthood of Illinois. She currently writes for Saturday Night Live.

Saturday Night Live cast member
Cecily Strong is currently working at Saturday Night Live as a ‘Weekend Update’ co-anchor and reparatory player. Strong started her career in improvisation appearing regularly at Chicago’s iO and served as an understudy for the Second City Main Stage and e.t.c. shows. While performing in Chicago, Strong also worked at Planned Parenthood of Illinois’ administrative office where she cultivated an unwavering passion for women’s rights and gay rights.
