Planned Parenthood of Illinois has a usual and customary rates for all services offered. However, when a patient is uninsured (does not have private insurance) they may be eligible to receive a reduced price for abortion procedures.
The cost for a surgical in-clinic abortion includes admitting, pre-operative examination, lab work (pregnancy test, hematocrit, Rh type), ultrasound, RhoGAM (if necessary), routine post-operative medication (including pain medication), a form of contraception, routine pathology report, anesthesia charges and access to a 24-hour on-call telephone service available to all our abortion patients.
The cost for a medication abortion (abortion pill) includes the ultrasound, lab work, MicRhoGAM (if required), medications required for the procedure, pain medication, a form of contraception, your follow-up visit and access to a 24-hour on-call telephone service available to all our abortion patients.
Financial Assistance
If you are getting an abortion at one of our health centers and need help paying for the procedure, financial assistance to help cover abortion services is available to those who qualify. We have special funding which can help cover some of the cost. If interested, please ask about the eligibility requirements and the application process.

*HMO sites through BCBS or Humana. You are responsible for obtaining any referrals or prior authorizations before your appointment.
PPIL will submit claims on your behalf to your insurance company. You are responsible for your co-payment at the time of the visit. You are also responsible for all services not covered, co-insurance and unmet deductibles.
Any remaining balances will be communicated to you via a billing statement by mail after we have received a response from the insurance carrier. For questions about specific charges covered by your insurance, you should contact your insurance carrier directly.
Please understand that we cannot guarantee confidentiality when using insurance. The policy holder will receive all explanations of benefits. Therefore, if you are a dependent or a spouse under some else’s policy, your confidentiality is not guaranteed.
Non-Participating Plans
Planned Parenthood of Illinois reserves the right to reject insurance plans not listed above. If this is the case with your insurance, we may ask for payment in full at the time of the visit. It will be up to you if you would like to submit the receipt to your insurance carrier. We will still verify the coverage and determine the best benefit for you. You are encouraged to contact your insurance carrier for detailed coverage.
Payment Options
We accept cash, money orders, check card/debit card and all major credit cards (AMEX, Visa, MasterCard and Discover). We do not accept checks.
