Protecting Choice in Idaho

The Supreme Court's January 22, 1973 ruling on the landmark Roe vs. Wade case was a victory for American women. The ability to determine whether and when to bear children was a much needed prerequisite for women's full participation in modern life. Yet, a woman's right to choose an abortion is in danger. Many states are encumbered with restrictive laws that endanger the lives of women. The story is, sadly, no different in Idaho.

FACT: 93 percent of Idaho counties have no abortion provider.

Idaho's lawmakers have passed laws, some unconstitutional, prohibiting a woman's right to choose if and when to have children. Some of these laws include:

  • Unconstitutional Abortion Ban (read more)
  • Biased Counseling and Mandatory delay (read more)
  • Insurance Prohibition for Abortion (read more)
  • Restrictions on Low-Income Women's Access to Abortion (read more)

And many other anti-choice, anti-woman laws (read more)

The number one cause of abortion is unplanned pregnancy. Restrictive laws that strip women of their constitutional right will not end abortion. Access to affordable contraception and comprehensive, medically accurate sexual health education is the best way to lower abortion rates in Idaho.
