The recent increase in the teen birth rate after a decade long decline suggests that we need to look at what pregnancy prevention initiatives really work. According to The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, teen pregnancy is closely linked to critical social issues like poverty and overall child well-being.
But young people say that more parental involvement, better sexand relationship education, and a more realistic portrayal of the consequences of teen pregnancy in popular culture may help reverse the recent increase in the teen birth rate.
During this training we will:
- discuss the latest teen sexuality statistics
- explore the issue of teen pregnancy in the U.S. >
- demonstrate what you can do to empower teens to protect their health

Who should attend:
Middle and high school teachers, including PE teachers, health teachers, family & consumer science teachers, social workers, psychologists, pediatricians, case managers, guidance counselors, nurses, youth serving professionals, prevention specialist, professionals working with the developmentally disabled population, outreach educators, and interns in the health or education fields.
