Although the FDA approved non-prescription sale of emergency contraception (EC) for women 18 years of age and older last year, some pharmacists around the country still refuse to stock it because of their own beliefs and bias.  If you or a friend has been denied EC, or a pharmacist has not honored your prescription, contact Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic at publicaffairs@pphp.org. Let us know. We will activate the “pill patrol” locally to investigate and try to change the pharmacy’s EC policy.

Earlier this year, Parenthood Hudson Peconic and the New York Civil Liberties Union surveyed pharmacies in Suffolk County to measure women’s access to EC there. We found that the majority of Suffolk County pharmacies stock EC.  View the Preferred Pharmacy List we created from that survey.
