"Just say KNOW"
Acting Out! is a peer education troupe that uses theatre to address issues critical to today’s teens. Perhaps the greatest threats to the lives of teenagers today are ignorance and silence. Fortunately, Acting Out! refuses to remain silent and brings to life scripts that focus on the choices that teens face each day. The Troupe’s main focus is a reality-based adolescent pregnancy prevention message with an emphasis on abstinence. The scripts also provide critical information on such topics as drug and alcohol abuse, diversity, sexually transmitted infections, contraception and good decision making skills as well as other crucial subjects. Audience members can see firsthand how making poor decisions can affect their lives.

Members of the Troupe bring with them diverse backgrounds, experiences and opinions, yet are united in their commitment to provide teenagers with complete and accurate information about sexuality. The Troupe’s goal is to assist their peers in making informed decisions, as the choices they make today will impact their lives tomorrow.
Every performance is tailor-made for each individual audience. You tell us which topics you want and we’ll perform them. If we don’t have a script about a topic you’re interested in, we’ll write it!
Acting Out! main scripts are appropriate for audiences 6th grade on up to adults. The troupe also has plays for pre-school--5th grade that deal with smoking and drugs, not talking to strangers, being nice to others and many other age appropriate subjects.
Acting Out! is funded by a grant from the Iowa Department of Human Services, Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program in collaboration with Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and the Siouxland Coalition to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
