PPHS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
DEVELOPMENT
Development generates the support and resources required to sustain the critical health services and education and policy programs Planned Parenthood provides. PPHS staff and volunteers are encouraged to consider personally participating through workplace giving, attending events, and referring potential donors to development staff. Volunteer opportunities include:
• Help with mailings
• Work with staff to identify individuals capable of making a gift to PPHS
• Help with fundraising events through set-up, ticket sales, sponsor recruitment and event planning
PUBLIC POLICY
We work diligently with national, state, and local policy makers to protect access to all aspects of reproductive health care. We have developed a large network of grassroots supporters who are committed to defending and increasing access to family planning services, abortion services, and sexuality education. Volunteer opportunities include:
• Social Media website monitor (Facebook, Twitter)
• Door knocking and phone-banking (talking to pro-choice supporters about contacting their legislators in support of pro-choice policy
• Letter-to-the-editor writer or letter writing party host
• Data entry
• Attend in-district meeting with legislator and PPHS staff
EDUCATION
We sponsor programs and conduct presentations for schools, community groups, religious organizations, and corporations on topics related to birth control and pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, women's health, effective communication skills and decision-making, adolescent pregnancy prevention, and positive parenting skills. Volunteer opportunities include:
• Help with Teens Taking Action (TTA) Summer training
• Assist with TTA presentation and outreach events in the community
• Help with curriculum design
• Attend health fairs to distribute sexual health information
MEDICAL SERVICES
Our health services include family planning and birth control, GYN care and cancer screenings, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, medical and surgical abortion, mid-life services, and pregnancy testing and education. We strive to provide low-cost, confidential services in a comfortable, professional setting. Volunteer opportunities include:
• File patient charts
• Pull patient charts
• Answer phones
• Make copies
• Stock exam rooms
FINANCE AND OPERATIONS
The Finance department is responsible for all financial activities within the affiliate and the Operations department provides support services to the entire organization. Volunteer opportunities include:
• Filing of documents, checks, insurance payments, cash transactions, etc.
• Make Copies and open mail
• Update addresses in billing system and other data entry
• Secret Shopper
