Health Center Services and Information

Walk-in Services

Free pregnancy tests by walk-in or appointment Monday and Wednesdays, 10am - 12pm and 2 - 4:30pm, and on Thursdays 11am - 1pm and 3 - 5:30pm.

Emergency contraception for sale if aged 17 or over. Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am - 5:00pm. Thursdays, 11am - 6:10pm. Under 17, by appointment.

Birth control refill pick-ups (for PPNYC patients only) are available Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am - 5:00pm. Thursdays, 11am - 6:00pm.

For all other services, appointments are encouraged (but sometimes we may be able to accommodate walk-ins). Although you may need an appointment, you can get birth control, STD testing, and testing/treatment for urinary tract infections without having a medical exam.

If you have an appointment at a PPNYC health center for an IUD insertion, please read "What To Do Before Your IUD Insertion Appointment" and follow those instructions before you come in for your appointment.

We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.

Medicaid accepted.

If you are uninsured, you may qualify for a state-funded program or a lower fee scale.

As payment, we accept cash, checks, money orders, and most health insurance plans, including Medicaid. For those who do not have insurance, on-site screening is available for health insurance (including the Medicaid Family Planning Benefit Program) and sliding-scale fees.

Staten Island Center offers the following services related to the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs):

STD testing, diagnosis and treatment, including:

bacterial vaginosis (BV)
chlamydia
genital warts
gonorrhea
herpes
HIV (testing and diagnosis only)
syphilis
trichomoniasis (trich)
Other STD testing, diagnosis and treatment services are also available. Please ask our staff for more information.

STD prevention, including:

condoms
female condoms
HPV vaccine (Gardasil)

STD/safer sex education

STD testing and treatment services are available:

Public and private insurance plans generally cover the HPV vaccine for females and males aged 9-26. If you are outside these ages and interested in the vaccine, please speak with a PPNYC clinician.

Minors under the age of 18 who wish to get the HPV vaccine must be accompanied by a parent who will sign a consent form. HPV vaccination is the only health care service provided by PPNYC for which a minor needs a parent's consent.

Here’s what you need to know about STD testing and treatment at this health center:

Rapid HIV testing can be done by swabbing the inside of your mouth. The results are available in 20-40 minutes.
