Appointment Information

Birth control refill pick ups are available During business hours

At this health center you can come in for appointments that do not require a medical exam. For example, birth control education and supplies; emergency contraception (morning after pill); pregnancy testing and counseling; STD testing; testing and treatment for urinary tract infections

We do not provide childcare services. We request that you please make childcare arrangements.

Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to wait unsupervised in the waiting area.

Only infants and toddlers in a car seat or stroller are allowed into the exam room. We request that you please make arrangements for childcare for any other children.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to check in and complete paperwork.

Payment Information

Medicaid accepted.

If you are uninsured, you may qualify for a state-funded program or a lower fee scale. Please bring the following documents:

Fees for services are based on your household income.

Family Planning (FPBP)
Clients with an income that is less than 200% of the federal poverty level may qualify for the state's funding program, the Family Planning Benefit Program (FPBP). Applications are available in our clinics and we will assist you in completing them. Eligible women may receive a birth control method plus routine annual exams and Pap tests. Men can receive condoms and birth control counseling. Both tubal ligation and vasectomy are also covered for those seeking permanent sterilization.

Abortion Services

Here’s what you need to know about abortion services at this health center:

Abortion Pill (Medication Abortion)

Abortion pill (medication abortion) is offered up to 9 weeks after the start of your last menstrual period. If your last period was more than 9 weeks ago, read about our in-clinic abortion services below.

Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only.

Plan to be at the health center for 2 hour(s) for your entire abortion pill visit (medication abortion).

During the abortion pill (medication abortion) visit, you must agree — before you start — that you will have an in-clinic abortion if the abortion pill does not work.

After your abortion pill visit, you will need access to a telephone, transportation, and backup medical care available to you once you are home.

In-Clinic Abortion

In-clinic abortion is offered up to 13 weeks after the start of your last menstrual period. If your last period was after 13 weeks, we can still help. Call us for a referral list of health care providers in your area that offer other abortion services.

In-clinic abortions are available by appointment only.

Plan to be at the health center for 3-4 hours for your entire visit for an in-clinic abortion.

If you desire medication to help make your in-clinic abortion more comfortable, you must have a responsible companion with you to help you get home safely.

If you have asthma, bring an inhaler if you have one.

Other Abortion Services Information

Please do not bring children with you to the health center.

During your visit, you may be given the following:

  • a pregnancy test
  • a chance to speak with a trained staff person about all of your choices: abortion, adoption, and parenting
  • a conversation with the health care provider about your health history
  • lab tests/blood work
  • a pelvic exam
  • an ultrasound
  • medications to make the abortion more comfortable
  • medication if you are Rh negative
  • antibiotics or other medications
  • birth control information
  • a birth control method

If you qualify, you may be able to receive certain birth control services without a pelvic exam.

If required, you may have to schedule a Pap test or a breast exam before getting a hormonal birth control method.

In order to obtain an IUD, we may first require an exam and a Pap test.

Here’s what you need to know about HIV testing at this health center:

Rapid HIV testing can be done by swabbing the inside of your mouth or with a blood sample taken from a finger stick. The results are available in 10-40 minutes.

HIV counseling referral services are available.

Counseling and confidential (private) testing for HIV are provided by trained staff who are sensitive to your needs and concerns.

Results must be given in person.

HPV & Hepatitis Vaccines

Ithaca Clinic offers the following vaccine services:

Here’s what you need to know about vaccine services at this health center:

Children and adolescents younger than age 19 may qualify for the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program, which provides free vaccines. Some health centers may charge a low administrative fee for this service.

Individuals ages 19 - 26 who have no health insurance and meet financial criteria may qualify for the Merck Vaccine Patient Assistance Program to receive the HPV vaccine (Gardasil) at no charge.

Some vaccines are given in a series over the course of several months, which would require you to return to the health center to get the full benefit.

STD Testing & Treatment

Ithaca Clinic offers the following services related to the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs):

  • STD testing, diagnosis and treatment, including:
    • bacterial vaginosis (BV)
    • chlamydia
    • genital warts
    • gonorrhea
    • herpes
    • HIV (testing and diagnosis only)

Through a contract with the Tompkins County Health Department, PPSFL offers a special FREE STD/STI Testing and Treatment program at our Ithaca Center. Here are some important facts you should know! Who Is Eligible? People who live in Tompkins County (we offer this service to men and women!) Patients with symptoms or concerns of an STD Patients who have concerns about an STD based on having unprotected sex, concern that their partner has had unprotected sex, or positive test results for any STD People who are looking for 'peace of mind' STD screening Who Is Not Eligible? This is not a program for patients whose primary reason for their visit is getting birth control What Is Covered Diagnostic tests - for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis HIV testing Medication - most STI medications are covered, but not medication for yeast infections Blood tests for Herpes, Hepatitis, and any tests for HPV (genital warts) are not covered

For testing involving urine samples, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, do not urinate or engage in sexual intercourse for one hour before testing.

Here’s what you need to know in preparation for a women's health visit at this health center:

Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina 48 hours before your pelvic exam. It is best if you are not having your menstrual period for some types of visits. Contact us if you have questions.

Checkups for gynecological concerns may require a pelvic exam.

For the testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, we will need to collect a urine sample at the time of your visit.

For the testing and treatment of vaginal infections, a pelvic exam may be required.

We offer education and treatment for menopause and midlife issues, including non-hormonal treatment(s).

Hormone replacement therapy requires a routine checkup or records of your current exam.

A Pap test is sometimes needed during a routine checkup.

Cervical cancer screening requires a pelvic exam and Pap test.
