Walk-in Services
Walk-in services: Walk in services include birth control supplies for current patients, pregnancy testing, and over-the-counter emergency contraception.
All other services require an appointment.
If you need emergency contraception (morning after pill), you can walk in any time the health center is open.

Appointment Information
At this health center you can come in for appointments that do not require a medical exam. For example, birth control education, emergency contraception (the morning after pill), pregnancy testing and counseling, and STI testing.
Only infants and toddlers in a car seat or stroller are allowed into the exam room. We request that you please make arrangements for childcare for any other children.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to check in and complete paperwork.

Abortion Services
Trenton Health Center offers the following services:
- abortion pill (medication abortion)
- in-clinic abortion
- pre- and post-abortion patient education

Here’s what you need to know about abortion services at this health center:
Abortion Pill (Medication Abortion)
Abortion pill (medication abortion) is offered up to 9 weeks after the start of your last menstrual period.
Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only.
Plan to be at the health center for 2-3 hour(s) for your entire abortion pill visit (medication abortion).
During the abortion pill (medication abortion) visit, you must agree — before you start — that you will have an in-clinic abortion if the abortion pill does not work.
After your abortion pill visit, you will need access to a telephone, transportation, and backup medical care available to you once you are home.
In-Clinic Abortion
In-clinic abortion is offered up to 13.6 weeks after the start of your last menstrual period.
In-clinic abortions are available by appointment only.
Plan to be at the health center for 4-6 hours for your entire visit for an in-clinic abortion.
If you have asthma, bring an inhaler if you have one.
Other Abortion Services Information
Please do not bring children with you to the health center.
If you take any medications, please continue to take these medications normally before your appointment.
During your visit, you may be given the following:
- a pregnancy test
- a chance to speak with a trained staff person about all of your choices: abortion, adoption, and parenting
- a conversation with the health care provider about your health history
- lab tests/blood work
- a pelvic exam
- an ultrasound
- medications to make the abortion more comfortable
- medication if you are Rh negative
- antibiotics or other medications
- birth control information
- a birth control method

Birth Control Services
Trenton Health Center offers the following birth control methods:
- birth control patch (Ortho Evra)
- birth control pill
- birth control shot
- birth control vaginal ring (NuvaRing)
- diaphragm
- condom
- female condom
- emergency contraception (morning after pill)
- fertility awareness method
- IUD (Mirena)
- IUD (ParaGard)
- spermicide
- sterilization for men (vasectomy)
Here’s what you need to know about birth control at this health center:
Some of the birth control pills that we offer are Ortho Tricyclen, OrthoTricyclen Lo, Ortho Novum 1/35, Microgestin, and Lo Ogestrol (Generic Lo Ovral).
If you qualify, you may be able to receive certain birth control services without a pelvic exam.
If required, you may have to schedule a Pap test or a breast exam before getting a hormonal birth control method.
In order to obtain an IUD, we may first require an exam and a Pap test.

Emergency Contraception
Trenton Health Center offers the following emergency contraception (morning after pill) and related services:

- copper IUD insertion
- pregnancy testing
- rape crisis counseling referrals
Emergency contraception (morning after pill) is available at this location:
- during all business hours on a walk-in basis
Emergency contraception is available over the counter for individuals 18 and over with government photo identification. If you do not have identification or are under 18, you can get emergency contraception with a health center visit.

Here’s what you need to know about HIV testing at this health center:
Rapid HIV testing can be done with a blood sample taken from a finger stick. The results are available in 20-40 minutes.

Counseling and confidential (private) testing for HIV are provided by trained staff who are sensitive to your needs and concerns.
Results must be given in person.

Here’s what you need to know about getting pregnancy testing and services at this health center:
Our pregnancy tests are urine tests. We will only draw blood for a pregnancy test if it’s medically needed or upon patient’s request.
We have licensed counselors on staff and provide extensive and personalized options counseling services.
If you choose to continue a pregnancy, we will provide you with a list of resources to help you obtain prenatal care.
If you learn you are pregnant and decide to terminate the pregnancy, we will provide you with abortion services or refer you to an abortion provider.

Trenton Health Center offers the following services related to the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs):
- STD testing, diagnosis and treatment, including:
- bacterial vaginosis (BV)
- chlamydia
- genital warts
- gonorrhea
- herpes
- HIV (testing and diagnosis only)
- syphilis
- trichomoniasis (trich)
- Other STD testing, diagnosis and treatment services are also available. Please ask our staff for more information.
- STD prevention, including:
- condoms

Here’s what you need to know about STD testing and treatment at this health center:
We can test for gonorrhea and chlamydia using a urine sample. If this test shows an infection, then we will provide you with treatment and explain how your partner(s) can be treated.
For testing involving urine samples, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, do not urinate or engage in sexual intercourse for one hour before testing.

Trenton Health Center offers the following women's health services:
- checkups when you have a reproductive/sexual health problem
- breast exams
- cervical cancer screening
- colposcopy
- cryotherapy
- fibroids evaluation
- hormone replacement therapy
- LEEP (treatment of abnormal pap)
- mammogram referrals
- menopause and midlife — testing and treatment
- Pap test
- routine physicals for women
- urinary tract infections — testing and treatment
- vaginal infections — testing and treatment
- Other services we may provide include help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.

Here’s what you need to know in preparation for a women's health visit at this health center:
Do not douche, have sex, or put anything in your vagina 48 hours before your pelvic exam. It is best if you are not having your menstrual period for some types of visits. Contact us if you have questions.
Checkups for gynecological concerns may require a pelvic exam.
For the testing and treatment of urinary tract infections, we will need to collect a urine sample at the time of your visit.
For the testing and treatment of vaginal infections, a pelvic exam may be required.
We offer education and treatment for menopause and midlife issues, including non-hormonal treatment(s).
Hormone replacement therapy requires a routine checkup or records of your current exam.
A Pap test is sometimes needed during a routine checkup.
Cervical cancer screening requires a pelvic exam and Pap test.
